NOTICE OF REGISTRATION FOR THE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2023

CITY OF TRENTON, MICHIGAN

To the Qualified Electors of the City of Trenton, Wayne County, and State of Michigan:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a General Election will be held in the City of Trenton on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.   

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that any qualified elector of the City of Trenton who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the Trenton City Clerk; the office of any County Clerk; a Secretary of State Branch office, or other designated state agency.   Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk.  Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the City Clerk is Monday, October 23, 2023.  After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the City Clerk’s Office, located at 2800 Third Street, Trenton, MI 48183 at the following times:

·         Regular business hours: Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

·         Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

·         Election Day, Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Qualifications:  A citizen of the United States and resident of the City who is at least 18 years of age and has lived in the State of Michigan, resident of the City for at least 30 days prior to November 7, 2023.            

Note:   A person who registers to vote by mail is required to vote in person unless they have previously voted in person in the city/township where they live or are at least 60 years of age or are handicapped.  Persons with disabilities needing accommodations should contact the Clerk’s office.

In said General Election, candidates for the following offices are to be voted upon:

Mayor, City Council (3 positions), Clerk, Treasurer and Assessor.

In addition, the following proposal is to be voted upon for Riverview Community School District only.

Riverview Community School District Sinking Fund Millage Renewal Proposal.  A proposal to allow the school district to continue to levy the building and site sinking fund millage that expires with the 2024 tax levy.

Full text of the ballot may be obtained at the City Clerk’s office, 2800 Third Street, Trenton, MI 48183, telephone: 734-675-8600.  A sample ballot may be viewed at mi.gov/vote. 

Absentee ballots are available.  The deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, is Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. The City Clerk's office will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2023, for the above purpose. Deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots to be mailed via first class mail is Friday, November 3, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.  Persons qualified to vote absentee in the election may vote in person in the City Clerk's office up to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 6, 2023. Election Day registrants may obtain and vote an absentee voter ballot in person in the Clerk’s office.
