Riverside Update to the Trenton Community
A new demolition permit has been issued for the old Riverside Hospital. Over the last several months “Demolition” work was halted as a new general contractor and demolition contractor were hired by the court receiver/property owner to finish the project. The limited activity at the site over the last few months was “pre-demolition, site prep and cleanup” that was needed to move the project forward safely and properly.
With issuance of the Demolition permit, more heavy equipment will be arriving in the coming days and we anticipate a ramping up of activity on the site. The City of Trenton is working collaboratively with the contractors on site which is under court supervision (Receivership). All reasonable efforts are in place and will be monitored to control dust, debris and noise and to minimize the impact to the surrounding neighborhood, but with any large scale demolition some disruptions will likely occur.
The Mayor, Council, City Administration and the Court (Receiver) are aware of the burden this site has imposed on the adjoining neighborhood and Trenton as a whole. Our entire team has been working diligently on a daily basis to remove this eyesore as quickly as legally possible and we will continue to use whatever means at our disposal to see this project to a final conclusion.
