NOTICE OF STATE PRIMARY ELECTION
TUESDAY, AUGUST 2, 2022
To the Qualified Electors of the City of Trenton, County of Wayne, State of Michigan:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that a State Primary Election will be held in the City of Trenton, County of Wayne, State of Michigan, on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. prevailing Eastern Time to elect the following:
In said State Primary Election, candidates for the following offices are to be voted upon:
Governor; United States Representative in Congress – 6th District; State Senator – 4th District; State Representative – 27th District; County Executive; County Sheriff; County Commissioner – 15th District; Delegates to County Convention.
In addition, the following County proposal is to be voted upon:
Proposition J – Jails Millage Renewal – To renew the millage authorized in 2012, shall Wayne County be authorized to continue to levy this millage at the 2021 rollback rate of .9358 mills (about 94 cents per thousand dollars of taxable valuation) for ten more years (2022 through 2031).

Further, all persons voting in this election must provide appropriate photo identification or complete an affidavit in order to vote. Any person voting in this election must be: a citizen of the United States of America over eighteen years and a registered elector of the City of Trenton. Voting precincts will be held in the following locations:
Precinct #1 Trenton City Hall, 2800 Third Street
Precinct #2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Westfield Center, 2700 Westfield Road
Precinct #7 Community Bible Church, 3700 Benson Street
All polling place locations are handicap accessible. To obtain election instructions in an alternative format (audio or Braille), contact the Clerk’s Office at 734-675-8600 prior to Election Day. This public notice is given in accordance with Section 168.653(a) of the Michigan Election Law as amended.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE AVAILABLE
The deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots for the General Election to be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, is Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. The City Clerk's office will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2022, for the above purpose. Deadline for obtaining absentee voter ballots to be mailed via first class mail is Friday, July 29, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Persons qualified to vote absentee in the election may vote in person in the City Clerk's office up to 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022. Election Day registrants may obtain and vote an absentee voter ballot in person in the Clerk’s office.
ELECTION NOTICE – PUBLIC ACCURACY TEST
Notice is hereby given that a Public Accuracy Test will be conducted for the purpose of certifying the program and scanning devices used to process voter ballots for the State Primary Election to be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in the City of Trenton, Wayne County, Michigan. Said Test is open to the public and any concerned parties may witness the test on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., at Trenton City Hall, 2800 Third Street, Trenton, Michigan, 48183.
