CITY OF TRENTON
ORDINANCE NO. 793

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CERTAIN SECTIONS OF APPENDIX A OF THE CITY CODE ENTITLED "FEES AND CHARGES" FOR THE PURPOSE OF UPDATING ASSESSMENTS MADE BY THE CITY.

THE CITY OF TRENTON, COUNTY OF WAYNE ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. Certain sections of Appendix A of the Trenton City Code entitled "Fees and Charges" shall be modified to update the City's assessments for certain permits and services, which shall read as follows:
Sec. A-6. Sewer and drain installations.
Prior to issuance of any permit for the installation of any sewer or drain, the following fees and charges shall be paid:
(1) Permit based fee: for each connection, when a new sewer and/or main is installed, a minimum permit fee of $75.00 shall be charged in addition to the following:

Sec. A-76. Building Permits.
(b) Building permit fee. The fee for building permits shall be based upon a base permit fee and the permit fee which is the estimated cost of the building or altering the building as follows:
(1) Base permit fee: Residential, commercial and industrial... $75.00

Sec: A-79. Permit for demolition of buildings
The permit fee for demolition of buildings or structure in the city shall be as
follows:
` Base permit fee: Residential, commercial and industrial... $75.00
(1) One-family residential: $50.00 per $1,000.00 or fraction thereof, (minimum of $30.00) of estimate demolition cost (including abatement costs), plus $75.00 base
(2) All other building: $10.00 per $1,000.00 or fraction thereof, (minimum of $50.00) of estimated demolition costs (including abatement costs) plus $75.00 base.

Sec. A-80. Permit for moving buildings.

For the moving of a building or structure from its foundation on a parcel of land to some other location without going upon a public street or way, the permit fee shall be $75.00. For the moving of a building or structure into, across or through a public street, alley or other public place in the city for a distance one-fourth mile or less, the permit fee shall be $150.00 and for each additional one-fourth mile or less, the permit fee shall be $150.00, and for each additional one-fourth mile or fraction thereof, such building or structure is moved along a public street, alley or other public place in the city, the permit fee shall be an additional $75.00 per each one-fourth mile. A demolition permit under A-79 may be required.

 

Sec. A-81. Electrical permits and inspection.
The fee for electrical permits and inspection shall be as follows:
(1) Base Permit fees:
Residential, commercial and industrial .... $75.00
(2) New one-family residence (flat rate covers all services.... $250.00
Up to 2,000 square feet, $7.00 per additional 100 square feet.

(4) Minor electrical repairs.... $50.00

Sec. A-82. Mechanical permits and inspections.
The fees for mechanical permits and inspections shall be as follows:
(1) Base Permit fee:
Residential, commercial and industrial ... $75.00
(2) Minor mechanical repairs... $50.00

Sec. A-83. Plumbing permits and inspections.
The fees for plumbing permits and inspections shall be as follows:
(1) Base permit fee, residential, commercial and industrial $75.00
(2) Minor plumbing repairs... $50.00

Section 2. Saving Clause. Nothing in this Ordinance or in the Code hereby adopted shall be construed to affect any suit or proceeding pending in any court, or any rights acquired, or liability incurred, or any cause or causes of action acquired or existing, under any act or ordinance hereby repealed; nor shall any just or legal right or remedy of any character be lost, impaired or affected by this Ordinance.

Section 3. Severability. Should any word, sentence, phrase or any portion of this Ordinance be held in a manner invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction or by any state agency having authority to do so for any reason whatsoever, such holdings shall be construed and limited to such work, sentence, phrase or any portion of the Ordinance held to be so invalid shall not be construed as affecting the validity of any of the remaining words, sentences, phrases or portions of this Ordinance.

Section 4. Conflicting Ordinances. All prior existing ordinances adopted by the City of Trenton inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are, to the extent of such conflict or inconsistency, hereby expressly repealed.

Section 5. Readings. This Ordinance shall be given a first reading on September 4, 2018, shall be enacted on September 17, 2018, and shall be published on or before September 24, 2018, and shall be effective September 25, 2018.
