Annually, the Trenton Civic Commission recognizes outstanding Trenton citizens for their contribution to our community. Awards are bestowed at the annual City Award's Banquet. This year's event will be held at the beautifully restored, Chateau on the River, located in Elizabeth Park on Saturday, January 20, 2018. A variety of award categories are available. The Trenton Civic Commission invites you to nominate residents worthy of such honors. The award categories include: Trentonite of the Year, Good Neighbor of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Woman and Man, Outstanding Trenton Youth and Charlie Brown, which recognizes an individual that has contributed their time and energy to benefit the young athletes of our community.

Get Ready! The City of Trenton and the Michigan Interscholastic Hockey League will be combining efforts for the 17th consecutive year to bring you the 18th Annual MIHL Prep Hockey Showcase. The Top 42 High School Hockey Teams in the Mid-West including teams from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana will show what hockey is all about.

Over three days, each team will play two games and showcase their talents in front of the best professional, college and junior hockey scouts. This event is possible by tremendous community support and we are always looking to add to our volunteer base. Call (734) 676-7172 for more information.

A blizzard of 20,000 marshmallows will hit Trenton on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 9 a.m. in Elizabeth Park for the annual Marshmallow Drop. Once the marshmallows have safely landed, eager children can redeem a marshmallow for a special prize. Put on your boots and come to Elizabeth Park to laugh and enjoy the company of your neighbors! Be sure to watch for the helicopter! Great photo opportunity! Don't be late; the helicopter flies at 9 a.m. sharp! Sponsored by Wayne County Parks.

Boys and girls will be hopping to the Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Westfield. Families and friends gather to share in this "rite of spring" to renew their community spirit and reconnect with their neighbors after a long winter. Every child will receive a prize. Bring your basket and camera for pictures with the Easter Bunny!

The Jamboree on Ice is Downriver's longest running show and displays the talents of all ages from 3 - 99. This year's Jamboree on Ice will pick up right where we left off last year. We will celebrate the skills of our growing students!

Don't let your important documents wind up in the wrong hands! Trenton Civic Commission and Trenton Rotary are sponsoring a "Community Shred" Day at the Kennedy Recreation Center, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Bring important documents for safe and secure on-site shredding. Wayne County will also be on site collecting resident-only tires from 9 - 10am.
