Calling all Seniors! Don't lose your edge on the ice. Come and skate with us this season at the Kennedy Recreation Center! Drop-in skating sessions will be offered for Seniors, ages 55 and up, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 a.m. year-round. It's free to Trenton residents. Dates may change due to special events.
Horseshoes anyone? Men and Women 50 years and older are invited to play horseshoes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Westﬁeld courts behind the building. This year's program will ofﬁcially begin Monday, May 4th, (early play will be allowed, weather and ﬁeld conditions permitting). No Horseshoe experience is necessary; we'll teach you how to play! The program does not meet on holidays, during rain, or temperatures over 90 degrees. For information call 675-0063.
Belmar Lanes II, on West Road in Trenton, is the site for Senior Bowling beginning Tuesday, September 1st, 2015. This 30-week league takes to the alleys every Tuesday at 1 p.m. Regular bowlers and substitutes are always needed, so sign up now and join the fun! Put on your tennis shoes, grab your racquet and head over to Trenton High School Tennis Courts for lessons. Whether you've never played tennis before or are looking to improve your skills, our instructors will design the lessons to ﬁt your needs. Lessons will run two days per week for ﬁve weeks.
Do you enjoy an evening or Sunday afternoon out with friends playing a game of Euchre, Pinochle, Bunco, Horse, Dominoes, (or other table games of your choice) with a great meal? Then watch the Senior Tidings calendar, or visit Westﬁeld to check on the next scheduled 'Lite' night or 'Sundae' evening. These parties for seniors are planned about 4 times throughout the year, and have become a great success, so don't miss out on the fun!
The Westﬁeld Activities Center, with the help of the Trenton Seniors, will be hosting a 7th Annual Craft and Vendor Bazaar on Saturday, October 24th, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Westﬁeld Center. The entire building was ﬁlled with over 40 tables last year, so be sure to stop in to shop for some beautiful crafts and bazaar items for anyone on your shopping list, or even yourself! Do you love to knit and/or crochet, have you learned years ago but haven't created anything lately, or have you always wanted to learn? The Westﬁeld Senior Center is now offering a drop-in knitting and crochet session for anyone who enjoys this craft, or would like to learn. The group meets on Mondays at 10 a.m. until around Noon and there is no charge to attend. Just bring your own supplies and/or project that you are working on. There is an instructor on sight to help you begin your craft, or to help you with any questions or struggles you may be experiencing in a current project you are working on! Pack your bags and join the travel fun! From one-day trips to overnight and week long tours, the Trenton Travelers are always on the go! All persons ages 50 years and up are welcome. For a description of tours scheduled contact the West eld Ofﬁce and get packing!
Do you need to use a computer? Or would you like to learn to use one? The Westﬁeld Center has a computer available for Seniors to use Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are installed with all the basics, Microsoft Word, card games, etc. Get connected!
Let's make a deal! Drop in at the Westﬁ eld Center and play a friendly game of cards with your neighbors. Whatever your game, euchre, pinochle, bridge, or bunco, we have a hand waiting for you. Looking to meet new friends? We've got the place for you! For daytime activities and fellowship, join the Pleasant Hours, Heritage, or New Horizon social clubs, and keep yourself young at heart. Our clubs meet Mondays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays in the early afternoon, depending on the group. Each club offers a wide range of activities including light luncheons, bingo, special events, and much more! There is something for everyone. Pleasant Hours and the Heritage club now accept non-residents. The New Horizon club is limited to Trenton residents only. Each club has nominal yearly membership fees, with weekly dues collected at the door, unless otherwise speciﬁed. Guests and prospective members are always welcome.
"I could have danced all night!" That's the word from Friendship Club members! This active bunch kicks up their heels on the dance ﬂoor every Friday evening, September through June, at the Westﬁeld Center. Waltz your way over to join them for fun, fellowship, and lots of laughs. You won't even need a partner, because they do lots of line dances! Special dinner dances are planned throughout the year. Membership is open to people who are 50 years of age and older. Nominal yearly membership dues are collected with a small door charge for regular dances. Dinner dances also require a pre-purchased ticket.

Do you need your blood pressure checked? Nurses from Henry Ford Hospital will be at Westﬁeld on the second Thursday of every month from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to check it for you.
Wayne County Ofﬁce of Nutrition Services, in conjunction with Senior Alliance and volunteers from Trenton Senior Program, offer a nutrition program for persons 60 years of age or older. All seniors, regardless of income, can take advantage of this service. The nutrition site is located at Church of Christ, 2650 Grange, Trenton. Lunch is served Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m. Call 676-1848, 24 hours in advance for a reservation. A $2.25 donation is requested. Hot lunches and emergency frozen meals are also available to qualiﬁed home bound seniors. To register for that service, please call 1-800-851-1454. Volunteers are always needed to help pack lunches or to deliver meals, call 675-0063.
Whether it's a trip to the doctor or hospital, or running errands to the bank or grocery store, Trenton Transportation, a taxi shuttle service for Trenton residents 60 years of age or older, will take you there! Trenton Seniors who are interested in using the shuttle service must register in advance at the Westﬁeld Ofﬁce located at 2700 Westﬁeld. The service area includes Trenton, and neighboring communities bounded by Vreeland to the South, Northline Road to the North, Telegraph to the West, and West Jefferson to the East. The service is available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 9 am to 2 p.m. The cost is $3.00 each way, for every drop-off. When traveling outside the service area, an additional charge of $3 per mile will be assessed. Fees will be collected at the time of pick-up. (This service excludes trips to the airport, bus, or train stations.) For info, call 734-692-5632.
Need a lift? SMART offers Trenton residents another transportation option. Transportation requests must be scheduled 2 days in advance and 6 days in advance for medical appointments. Transportation is available 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 866-962-5515 for reservations. Boundaries are limited, no pre-registration is required.
Attention Trenton Seniors! Each Monday and Wednesday, the city's shuttle bus will pick up Trenton Seniors and bring them to Westﬁeld to participate in senior programs. The shuttle will make a 'loop' around town with stops at the Westﬁeld Center, Kennedy Recreation Center, Library, and Trafford Square. Shuttles to Meijer's are on Mondays and Southland Mall on Wednesdays. There is a $1 fee to use the shuttle, and it serves Trenton residents only.
